I love this bar because it is never TOO crowded when we go. I do have to say that last time we went to karaoke it took  a while to get drinks-there was only 1 bartender. While we love that bartender, he is not superman, and they need to get a second tender or at least an actual official bar back.  Other than that I have no qualms. We love DJ BKR!

So, as I hung out with my fellow entertainers at the AEC Holiday Party last night (thanks for the great party btw!), several people came up to me and congratulated me on being the new face of AEC…I had no idea what they were talking about until I got Al to send me the link and file!  I guess I am!!

Well, I saw this on a DJ blog the other day and felt compelled to share it – it is so true!

If you ask yourself why DJ’s charge so much for performances? Because We don’t get paid vacation, we don’t get paid sick days, we don’t get bonuses for outstanding performances nor for Christmas. We don’t have insurance plans nor do we qualify for unemployment. We sacrifice our family on special days so that we can bring happiness to others. Illness or personal affairs are not excuses for a bad performance. Next time you ask, remember that DJ’s are DJ’s because of the LOVE of MUSIC, but that love doesn’t pay debts.

I have regularly worked on special family days (even my anniversary – with my wife’s approval!) and very rarely take vacations.  The last vacation my family and I took was a weekend away to Bodega Bay, and I DJ’ed a party while there!  Just my 2 cents worth!

Here is another review from a fun event we had a week ago!

Last Saturday evening, we held an outdoor gathering to celebrate our wedding anniversary.  We hired Chris as our DJ.  He met with us a couple of times before the event to see the general layout, and discuss the types of music we liked.  The evening came, and Chris showed up to set up his equipment.  He was both very easy to get along with and professional.  When the party started, he played to our group of friends.  He found out what kind of music they wanted to hear, and adjusted his pre-prepared playlist to match the group.

Everyone had a great time at our party, and we think the DJ, Chris, had a lot to do with their enjoyment.  We would definately hire him again, and strongly recommend him to everyone.

Cris is everything that you could possibly want from a wedding DJ.

If you want someone who guests notice mostly because they are dancing their pants off, this is definitely your guy.  During the planning process, Cris met with us two or three times, and talked everything through with us. He is very responsible and reliable, and gives you lots of ideas while also listening really careful to what you want. My husband, who had some groomzilla tendencies that mostly manifested themselves in placing demands on our DJ, was incredibly happy with the results. And Cris did not seem to mind at all, giving us tentative playlists and revising them in response to our feedback and suggestions. He did our ceremony, which went flawlessly, made announcements in a very professional manner, and did a great job of reading the crowd once the dancing really got underway. Highly recommended!

Hipster tested, parent approved.

Cris dj’d our wedding and completely crushed it. He is a pleasure to work with and totally professional. There’s a lot of moving parts when you’re planning a wedding and it is nice to know that you don’t have to worry at all about this guy. From the first meeting to the end of the night, everything went off without a hiccup. He showed up early for all of our meetings and worked hard to make sure we were happy with the playlist. Cris is also super flexible . Unplanned Hora – no problem, Cris has it covered.

All in all, A+ experience.

Cris Ratkovic, from BKR Productions, has worked as DJ at our company dinners now for three years. They are very patient and understanding with our developmentally disabled clients. Chris and his staff are professional, entertaining and fun. They play all the latest music and totally make the party complete~ I would not hesitate to hire BKR productions for any type of function! Thanks Chris for another awesome experience!

Last night I was lucky enough to help out artists John U. Abrahamson in the burning of one of his original art pieces called “Cigarette Burns”.  He is going through his collection and burning them all, one per week.  So I offered my services and he accepted!  He allowed me to film the ritualistic burning and then even let me edit it and add one of my original songs as the soundtrack!  Thanks John, I hope that I get to help out in the future as well!

The song that was chosen was from my first original works album.  My band alias was Godspeak and the name of the album was Holier Than Thou.  The track name is Ea-Z Ryder.  I will be posting more original music pieces on my SoundCloud page very soon!  Keep checking in!  And check out John’s artwork – just google his name – it’s everywhere!
